Louise's story of courage

Just over a year ago Louise Curtis, a 43 year old mother of two, was diagnosed with brain cancer.  Louise is not taking her terminal cancer diagnosis lying down and is instead embarking on what she calls a year on her bike. We are in complete awe of Louise’s dedication to remaining active and using this as a way to make a real difference for others affected by cancer. Thank you Louise for everything you are doing to help support our cancer research – you are a true inspiration to so many.

Here is her story:

Hi I’m Louise Curtis, a 43 year old mother of two and a keen cyclist.

I was diagnosed with Brain Lesion in December 2012. Later it was found to be Cancer. I would like to show “Survivors” of Cancer, and any other chronic condition, that it shouldn’t hold you back. To do this I will be taking part in two cycling events and holding cycling fundraisers throughout the year.

I have been told I might have five years left, if that. I’d like to know that I can help, and do something in that time.

Louise's Cycling Calendar:

March – Two hour RPM’athon at Les Mills Extreme. Watch a video from the event here.

April - Ride the iconic Grape Ride in Marlborough, 101kms.

July - Two hour indoor cycle event with Les Mills RPM Instructors

August - 24 hour event called the “Crank”.

November - Partake in the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” in Auckland, 200kms over two days.
