Dr Tom Mules

Clinical Consultant - Mules Research Group

Dr Tom Mules is a physician specialising in gastroenterology and hepatology, and lecturer at the University of Otago School of Medicine. His research interests include the role of intestinal barrier dysfunction in disease, hookworm therapy, Helicobacter pylori and the psychosocial impact of inflammatory bowel disease.

Tom wrote his PhD thesis on the relationship between gut health and metabolic disease, and whether we can design intervention strategies to improve the function of the intestinal barrier to improve health outcomes.
