Dr Dianne McCarthy

Dr Dianne McCarthy was a member of the Trust Board from 2015-2024. She was recognised as Distinguished Trustee in 2024.

Dianne was Chief Executive of the Royal Society of New Zealand from 2007–2014, and has more than 25 years’ experience in various senior management and governance roles in the tertiary education, science and health sectors.

She was Pro-Chancellor of Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington, Deputy Chair of the Board of the New Zealand Institute of Economic Research, a director of the Bragato Research Institute, a member of the governance group of the Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologies, and a trustee of the Hearing Research Foundation (NZ).

Dianne was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education in 2008, a Companion of the Royal Society of New Zealand for services to science in 2015, and a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to science, business and women in 2016.
